Key Aspects of our Breeding Program:

  • Good conformation

  • Attributes of current horse market influence stallion selection.

  • We strive to produce horses that people want to buy - popular bloodlines, popular crosses, etc..

  • Up and coming studs – we will meet the owners, research the stallion and find out how they will be promoted.

  • Stallion promotion is the key.  For example, we have been breeding to Boonlight Dancer, owned by the Polo Ranch.  Why?  Other than the fact he is an excellent sire, but even more importantly, he is promoted heavily from a reputable Ranch.  It makes for easy-to-sell babies!  TR Dual Rey from the Buffalo Ranch is another excellent example.  It all comes back to promotion.

  • We match mares to stallions to make for a good cross. For example, a big stop on a stallion may fix a weaker stop on a mare. Another example is Odds On Rosie, bred to TR Dual Rey.  The idea is to produce a baby that will put a little bigger stop and add a little more of the fancy stuff to go along with her cowhorse work ethic. She is a horse that knows when it is time to go work.

  • All our horses are versatile and are extremely cowy.

  • We only like to breed for 2-4 babies max.  We want to be able to work with only a few at a time so they can get the right amount of attention.  We like to get them broke, i.e. feet picked up, learn to tie to a fence and stand quiet. No trauma on young horses to create the right attitude so they will give when you ask. Makes training easier when horses are asked to do something instead of being told to do it.
